DIET TIPS: Learn to plan your meals better! (according to your lifestyle & activity level)

If you want to lean down in general reduce the amount of Saturated Fat and Carbohydrate or “white” food consumption like breads, tortillas, rice, pasta, noodles, and potatoes. These are simple carbohydrates, have a high glycolic index and are fillers. Substitute these with whole wheat choices or extra vegetables and or grains like quinoa or cous cous, which are complex carbohydrates with lower glycemic index, and have a higher nutritional value. Your body does need some carbs
You also have to reduce your Portion size of meals.

Hamburgers with fries, burritos, pasta, pizza, noodle soups, fried rice, chow meins are all high carbohydrate based meals.
So unless you’re working out a lot, living an active life style or doing marathons / triathlons, you need to have control over portion size and frequency of consumption.
Beware of typical corporate office & meeting foods like bagels & cream cheese and pastries; they are mainly just carbs and fat.

Substitutions:
Instead of rice have quinoa or couscous or extra vegetables.
Instead of fries get a house salad, or better yet, a spinach salad.
Avoid mayonnaise! Have pesto, humus, mustard, or a combo of the two.
Avoid consuming a lot of butter- it is pure fat, cook with olive oil instead.

Protein smoothie (a.k.a breakfast of champions)

-1 banana, ½ apple, ½ cup frozen mixed berries
-5-6 baby carrots & handful of spinach leaves
-1 glass of OJ, 1 cup or 2 heaped spoons yogurt
-1-2 scoops whey protein powder,
(add Creatine & L Glutamine for those focusing on muscle/strength gain & recovery)
-ice cubes & blend @ hi speed
-Add water if too thick
-pour into a large nalgene bottle & drink on the go.

BEVERAGES

What you drink is a large contributor to our total daily calorie intake.
Consider the amount of coffee, juices, sodas, energy drinks and the number 1 weight gainer beverage,,, ALCOHOL that you consume.

The quickest way to lose body fat % with out even working out is to cut out alcohol consumption completely, that means beer, wine & cocktails,,, atleast during the week.
